2007/2008 season

On our Indian Adventure Tours
we travel the desert state of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan is known for the rugged desert environment, the vibrancy of its people and the might and
beauty of some of it's forts and palaces. It is home to many bustling market places full of sparkling,
bright textile treats. We will have the opportunity to participate in workshops in artisan's studios, soak up
the culture and fit in a visit to the wonderful Calico Museum in Gurgurat State during our tour.

This season we have added a few extra days on from the previous season's tours and upgraded a
number of our hotels to Heritage

next seasons

The Indian Heart Tour travels not only to the geographical heart of the country but also
embraces wonderful examples of the cultural roots and heritage at the heart of the nation of India. It has
so much to offer but is  off the busiest tourists trails and so rather laid back and very peaceful.

We visit mighty forts- reminders of the wealth and strength of past eras,
wonderful  world heritage listed sculptured temples,
a National Park home to the most dense  population of wild tigers in India and go on safari hoping to
spot them,
visit Rock Shelters home to 12,000 year old paintings[World Heritage listed],
take in the Taj Mahal in passing....
visit the bustling markets of Bhopal,
little villages still embracing centuries old textile practices whilst travelling across a sleepy  farming
landscape full of rustic villages, palm trees and water buffalo- farming life is the real heart of India...and,
and, and....5 World Heritage listed locations on this one and tigers!

next season's
Indian Heart Tour starts

Indian Textiles Taster
put together specifically with  Australian school teachers in mind, this tour is tailored to fit into a school
holidays break. It is a little shorter than our other tours and really focuses on hands-on experiences in
textiles. Perfect for many a school teacher....and everyone else!  We are in India, though and  there are
a hundred and one other delights thrown in as well as textiles! - fabulous markets, mighty forts, beautiful
temples, yummy food....

next season's
Indian Textiles Taster starts
              13th January, 2008

- accommodation from the evening of  Day 1 up to and including the night of our Farewell

-our accommodation is generally mid-range we use heritage hotels where we can- all places
are clean, friendly and  western bathrooms! It is ambiance and friendliness we are
looking for.
- all transportation, road taxes and fuel costs for the tour
-all breakfasts and some other meals highlighted in the itinerary
-sightseeing entrance fees [which covers the use of a still camera]

Your need to cover – meals [other than breakfast and those listed in the itinerary- this
allows us flexibility in where we try]
- bottled drinking water
- laundry

allow approx $20 Australian/ per day for these expenses- the one expense that I can’t ‘guestimate’ for
you is shopping!

- shopping [ this is not a shopping expedition but India loves to shop and you will probably want to
indulge!]

- airfares
- travel insurance
- visa

We support Fair Trade and Self-Help organizations where we can and so the only ‘shops’ listed on our
itinerary come under this category [ more info in the notes to follow]
Don't worry there are also lots of other markets and bazaars we can visit too!

We look after our drivers and only use hotels where our drivers also receive good quality
accommodation [some hotels look after their guests and treat their driver miserably]

We have decided to use heritage hotels where we can-they are wonderful, atmospheric places and we
believe it helps to keep them  maintained rather than leave them deteriorating....

Our new banner will make it easy to find us at

Fair Trade
India is very much a third world country but there are many who are
actively working to improve their lot and that of others.
Fair Trade organizations and co-operatives work to share profits to
improve local lives with health care, education, support for mothers
and women, food production and in many other areas.
Money we spend goes to help people who produce the work rather
than a middle man- there are many markets , you are welcome to
shop where you like.

For those places that are listed as apart of the tour we have
endeavoured to look into their operating methods as well as the
quality of the items they have to show. Generally they have the best
quality work and so are a delight to visit and admire the workmanship.
India is a very exotic place to travel, rich in history, arts and culture,
but for many a little scary.
One thing many of my tour participants have expressed was that
they were a little worried about their personal safety. Once they
arrived, they quickly realised it was not a worry!
Of course you must keep an eye on your stuff -what is it like back
home, though?
If you drink only bottled water [even teeth washing] and eat in busy
places your tummy should be fine, so our tour groups are proving.

Poverty is obvious but so are all the things that are happening to
improve India's lot. It is truly a place of hope not despair. Generally
you depart feeling what an amazing and inspiring place, such
hospitable and friendly people and so many remarkable experiences.
